Squarespace's New York offices are as sweet as the best Silicon Valley tech offices

Squarespace is one of the most prominent New York tech startups, and it recently moved into an office that wouldn't look out of place among its peers in California.

The new office, like many of the best New York offices, is based in a historic building. Squarespace renovated the Maltz Building in New York's Soho neighborhood to reflect its own branding, and moved in over 300 employees earlier this year.

Squarespace has raised over $78 million from investors including Accel Partners, General Atlantic, and Index Ventures. The company develops tools for making websites.

Squarespace occupies the top three floors of its new building. Take a look!

The offices have a very "Mad Men" vibe with a strong modern design influence.

The floors are polished concrete.

Even the entrance to the building has been redesigned for Squarespace.

Large windows let light stream into the office.

The open atrium gives the office a wide-open feel.

Squarespace's office has lounges to promote open collaboration.

Like many technology offices, it has an open floor plan.

The wide staircases help the three floors not feel totally separate.

And it's equipped with several couches, so the company's designers and engineers don't feel chained to their desks.

The large windows let a lot of light in. Here you can see the polished concrete that is a key part of the office's aesthetic.

The office has a grown-up, minimalist vibe.

Squarespace "spared no expense when it came to the details," says the company.

The AC ducts were hidden, for example, and the LED overhead lights can be individually customized.

The dark walnut wood wall treatments contrast with the light white decor nicely.

The office was designed to encourage workers gathering together, and it includes a lobby that doubles as an event space.

But the best part of the office is its roof deck. A colleague who visited says it's among the best tech office roof spaces in New York.
